November 2018
Companion Animal Alliance, the nonprofit organization that has operated the EBR city-parish animal shelter since 2011, successfully relocated from its former facility near the Baton Rouge Metro Airport to a new, state-of-the-art campus near LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine. The new location was designed to support enhanced field training opportunities for LSU veterinary students.
The project featured numerous improvements, including the strategic use of soothing natural light, newly designed kennels to promote a more peaceful environment for both dogs and visitors, expanded intake and surgery areas, and enhanced spaces for cat care. Additionally, a covered pavilion was constructed to support animal care and processing in the aftermath of natural disasters.
